As you prepare for an auction, you probably wonder how to confuse or intimidate other participants. You rack your brain trying to come up with the best strategy. Here are a few ideas to get you started.

BLOG_2015_07_004--tydzien_31_1MConstantly changing your tactics will surely disorient your rivals. Within the same auction, you can bid manually and with Autobid — in any combination. Keep in mind that even with your Autobid set up, you can still place bids by hand. Switching between the two methods is a good way to confuse other bidders. You can also set up Autobid at a number of concurrent auctions. Seeing your bidding activity, potential opponents may get discouraged and walk away.

Observe before you bid. Instead of rushing in, wait until the auction has gone on for a little bit. When some of the early bidders back out, you might nab a quick win. You could also bid for a while, take a break, then come back in again.

BLOG_2015_07_004--tydzien_31_1M_cRemember that other auction participants have very little information about you. They might have to decide whether to steer clear or take you on based on things such as your username or avatar. This is why setting up the right avatar might give you extra advantage. You can take an opponent by surprise if your profile image shows an adorable kitty, while you turn out to be a fierce lion. Put the chat room  to good use, too, dropping hints about your enormous BID balance and winning strategy.

Join in the bidding, surprise the competition, and get amazing merchandise at our auctions! Oh, and don’t let others catch you off guard. 🙂
